| My YEAR. My FOCUS. |
Yesterday I spent the afternoon "playing with pictures" with my dear friend Sue. We made a commitment to each other to get together at least once a month and scrapbook. We both love scrapbooking and we can't figure out why it doesn't catch on! Haha.
During our afternoon, Sue shared with me one of her latest projects. It's a scrapbook of a year spent getting fit; a year-long, online class taught by Cathy Zielske. The class is called Fit and each month Cathy blogs about her personal story with the whole "trying to take better care of me thing".
Those of you who know me, know that I have "tried and failed" many times to take better care of myself. Hopefully, you also know that I do my best to keep commitments to others. What I'm really bad at is keeping commitments to myself. I have no trouble doing something I said I would when someone is counting on me. But, I can't seem to keep a promise to myself.
F = FOCUS on the facts
I = Gather INFORMATION
T = TAKE action
For the next twelve months, I'm going to be focused on me and getting healthy. I'm going to record the facts. You know, measurements like height, weight, inches, etc., and health statuses like blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides, and important stuff like that. Then, having the facts written down, I'm going to take action. I'm going to scrapbook my journey with my handwriting and my pictures. This is getting real.
This is my year for health and fitness. I am tired of singing the same old song. 2016 is my time to do better so I can fully enjoy my retirement for many, many, healthy years. It's an old cliche, but if I would have known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself. So, I'm in.
I'm excited to scrapbook my journey. I will be using Fit in conjunction with Take Shape for Life and HealthyWage. You'll hear more about all of these tools as I get fit.
